The amazing city of Rab-e Rashidi was built in the late 13th century, during the reign of Ghazan Khan. It was the world’s first scientific and cultural centre. It also became famous for its kitab-khane – a publishing house that printed books for the royal patron. Kitab-khane attracted the best Azerbaijani calligraphers, artists and bookbinders. Every single of their creations was a masterpiece. This book discusses the early work of the Tabriz publishing house. Three more books will follow in a series dedicated to the masters of the Azerbaijani miniature.
