Millenium of the Shirvanshahs

The estate of the Shirvanshahs appeared in the 6th century on part of what is present-day Azerbaijan, and it evolved into an independent state of that name as early as the 9th century. It managed to maintain its independence, and even flourish, for almost a thousand years. This book tells of the state’s structure, its rulers, their effective domestic policy and wise diplomacy, all based on a desire for peaceful coexistence.
